Article Creation

Creating an article, i.e. adding a new page to the wiki is essential to help make Subsistence Wiki a great resource! The more we add from the game the more knowledge is available to those new to the game and will keep people playing with less frustration.

Check the name

• Check spelling and capitalization of the proposed article name before creating a new article, especially for items in the game. It should exactly match the usage in-game.
• If there is an item or "thing" in game that goes by another name or shorter version, i.e. Base Command Unit is referred to as BCU, then the following should happen:

1. Create the article with the other name and:

Either move the article to the correct name / full name, which will automatically create a Redirect page (which will point the first page created to this new page).

OR Create the article with #redirect [[ACTUAL NAME]] and save. From there click on the red link (as the page hasn't been created yet) and proceed from there.

Helpful hints

To create an article one can also use the following tips:

• Clink on a red link in an existing page to begin the creation of that missing article.
• Search for the wanted article name by typing into the search box. If the article does not exist the search result will contain a red link.
• Edit an existing page and make a link to the article page you want to create. For example, on the Hunters page, make a link out of a non-existing item they may drop, save and click the red link.

Note: Remember to use the appropriate Template when creating an article (if it applies). Check the different article type help pages for more information.

Article Types

Item articles

Subsistence Wiki would love to include every item from the game (including ones that may have been removed in previous versions). This includes Resources, Clothing, Weapons, Ammunition, First Aid, Tools, and Building materials among others that are linked to other articles within the wiki.

We ask that anyone interested in helping with this area check out Help:Items.

Crafting articles

Crafting is a large part of the game of Subsistence and primarily includes Crafting Recipes from all sources Inventory crafting tabs, BCU, and Workbench. Future Crafting Projects may include recipe indexes for common sections and expanded guides to help new players.

We ask that anyone interested in helping with this area checks out Help:Crafting.

Threat articles

All threats, including Animals and Hunters, should be well documented for the increased chance of survival. We would appreciate any help in expanding these articles as well as creating new ones. The more detail we can offer about damage and threat range the better off we will all be!
