Fishing
Fishing is one way to get a source of protein to help sustain your player's hunger levels.
Tools
In order to catch fish you'll need to craft a Fishing Rod and Fishing Tackle to cast your own line in bodies of water like Lakes or Ponds.
You also have the option of crafting a Fish Trap which can be placed in shallow waters. This will need Tree Grub placed inside in order to bait fish.
How-to Fish
If you choose the Fishing rod and tackle option; you'll cast by holding down R-click and then L-click to cast.
Once cast you'll see a bobber floating in water.
The commands for fishing are found on the right side of screen:
- L-click is Strike
- R-click is Reel In
The bobber will jiggle up and down (slight, gentle bobs) so watch out for that trick, don't 'Strike' your line early.
The bobber will violently go downward and that's when you know a fish is caught. Time to Strike.
- NOTE: If the player strikes the tackle without a fish on it, or strikes at an improper moment, the fishing tackle will be lost.
Once the player strikes and a fish is hooked, reel in and approach reeled in fish and press the [use key] to land it.
Once caught, fish are either eaten raw (can be cooked) or harvested:
- 1-4 Fish Oil
- Fillet for either Fish Steak or Salmon Fillet
