Wheat can be found in the wild. They can be used in cooking recipes or harvested for seeds.
Harvested
When you pick up wheat out in the wild there is a chance you will either get a sprig of wheat or a Wheat Seed. You can also extract a seed from wheat in your inventory . These seeds can be used to grow wheat inside a Plant Bed.
Once you grow Wheat from your plant bed you can then extract a seed from each sprig of wheat you grow and eventually expand your farm. Wheat Right Click
